THIS 55-STUDIO LOFT IS OWNED BY A YOUNG IT PROFESSIONAL BASED IN SINGAPORE IS LOCATED IN MANDALUYONG'S CBD AREA, THE CLIENT WANTED TO IMBUE A MASCULINE FEEL THROUGH THE USE OF WEATHERED FINISHES, VINTAGE ACCENTS AND HIS COLLECTION OF ACCESSORIES ACQUIRED DURING HIS TRAVELS ALL OVER THE WORLD.

 

THE COMBINATION OF CEMENT FINISH, WEATHERED WOOD IN AN ASSORTMENT OF FINISHES, BURNT BRICKS AND BLACK METAL CONTRIBUTED TO THE INDUSTRIAL FEEL OF THE SPACE. THE CLIENT'S COLLECTION OF ANTIQUE FANS, TYPE WRITERS, VINTAGE CAMERAS, AND RETRO SIGNAGES PROVIDED A SENSE OF NOSTALGIA AS IF TIME STOOD AMIDST THE CHAOS OF CITY LIFE.

A PERSONAL FAVORITE OF KENJ WAS THE WORLD MAP MURAL IN COLLABORATION WITH HIS UNCLE. THAT DEFINITELY GAVE THIS UNIT A UNIQUE CHARACTER. ALSO ANOTHER ELEMENT WORTH NOTING IS THE CLIENT'S OWN FURNITURE CREATION. THE COFFEE TABLE IN THE LIVING AREA, NIGHT TABLE IN THE SLEEPING AREA, AND THE WORK DESK ARE ALL MASTERFULLY CRAFTED BY THE OWNER HIMSELF OUT OF WOOD PALLETES, REUSED OLD CASTER WHEELS, AND OTHER MATERIALS HE SOURCED AT JUNK SHOPS.

THE CHARM OF THE OLD AND NEW PLUS RAW AND FINISHED LOOKS CREATED A STATEMENT CONDOMINIUM UNIT. A UNIT THAT HAS ENDLESS STORIES TO TELL.

A PROJECT THAT HAS DEFINITELY PUT KENJ SO ON THE MAP AS ONE OF THE MILLENIALS WHO'S CHANGING THE GAME OF THE INDUSTRY AND SOMEONE TO WATCH OUT FOR.
